Can you please explain, when you say "details"? I'm assuming that's not one of the better terms I've yet to wrap my head around.

The rim damage at the bottom in your first picture. I would also go with a XF grade because of all the hits on the date, and the pock marks on the rest of the coin. I am no pro, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Some TPG's won't grade damaged coins. Edited by stampvirgin

I would keep this coin raw..Not grade it. It is a valuable semi key in the peace series, but this coin appears to have several issues that may hamper its grade...It could well come back XF or AU details,and would be worth more left as it is after paying the certification fees..In my opinion!

silverbob, paralyse is right. all silver dollars, coins for that matter are being faked. I start by weighing them, then magnet test, then start looking over the diagnostics..pictures look rather drab.

If you've already tested it and it's genuine, then no worries. The coin just looks a bit "off" compared to other circulated 1921's I've seen.
That being said I wonder if the coin might be ex-jewelry, the obverse rim and reverse rim appear to be notched.

I think I see what paralyse is talkin about. There appears to be A strange looking stripe on the edge. you can see it on the reverse between the D and S. Coud this be from a jewelry clasp of some sort?

Initially I was worried about the massive knock on the rim. And falling out of gradeable status. The rev looked odd to me. Not too sure what it is. It just looks so much worse than the obverse. If it's raising that many eyebrows I'm going to take it to my LCS and let him have a look for authenticity. So I'm going to roll with your gut for safe measure.
Unfortunately, this one might go in a flip and hope it increases for my kids.

The jewlery concept... Hmmmm! Definitely cannot rule it out. This stuff hasn't had a hand on it in over 35 years. And who knows how long before that or who did what with it. There were some sort of medalians of some sort in the collection though.
