one more question is this more rare than an off center strike

I don't think so. But a really good MAD is a great find.

THAT is a keeper. Mis-aligned die coins aren't that uncommon, but ones where the die is so far off that part of the design is missing are NOT common. (With every strike that obv die was smashing into the collar.)

I don't go through a lot of halves the banks that I deal with doesn't get them in a lot this is my first 50 cent error hit I was happy, from time to time I find 40 percent silver and 1 time I found a 1964,a couple of proof coins.
and now I know that it is a mad for sure I can put it in a holder and add it to my collection thank you everyone for the help

Very nice MAD! They are very common (and worthless) when the dies are only slightly misaligned, but this will carry a premium for sure.

Thank you numisma,I am not sure how much of a premium it would be worth but it is nice to have one in my collection.

You're right, I doubt it's much of a premium, but a nice find nevertheless.

Just because someone lists it that high doesn't mean someone will buy it. Even so, I think that's a good sign. You could have something good here.

Just want to understand the minting process that creates a MAD. Based on the link Buddy provided, would it be correct to say that multiple MAD coins would be struck up until the die was realigned/tightened? Is the die loose to where it would strike each planchet differently or would it be the same MAD strike on each coin? Thanks for sharing such a cool coin and thanks for the MAD lesson guys!

Very nice find wow! I agree that it would fetch a decent premium and 54$ if I was to only guess sounds about real close but who knows if you were to list it anything is possible
