when will we know the mintage for each denomination in 2016? Next annual report from the Mint? What time of the year is it usually released?

@ OttawaVoyageur RCM's 2016 Annual Report will likely be released in about May, 2017, if past years are an indication. As I recall it must be presented to Parliament prior to release to the public, so the date is not firm. If anyone's interested, the 2015 circulation coin mintages have been updated here: http://www.mint.ca/store/mint/about....V7Ht7XjOerU

@wildflowerAB But the mintage figures for the circulation commemorative coins have still not been issued? They were always seperatley listed in the Annual Report in previous years. Alas, not in the 2015 report.

I too, have not seen a 2016 "regular" Loonie. And what about the $2 coin? Has anyone been seeing 2016 in change? I see lots of the nickel, dime, and quarter.

I notice the mintage of circulation commemorative coins is announced via RCM Press Release upon issue. For example the mintage of the 2016 Woman's Right to Vote loonie was 5 million. http://www.mint.ca/store/news/new-o....V7RsCXjOerU

punman- Here in Ontario there seem to be plenty of the new Toonies. I got two yesterday in my change and have gotten several earlier. As far as I know, there has not been a regular Loonie released yet.

That is a sharp looking loonie Denny7000! I think it'd be even nicer w/o the maple leaf security feature.

Received a handful of 2016 quarters in change for the pay phone. Dumped them at Tims for a coffee after I made my calls.

I have found two quarters, two toonies, and one of those Lucky Loonies recently.

I have gotten all circulation denominations, the toonie just yesterday. I've got both of the commemorative loonies, but not the regular design one. Has anyone gotten that one yet?

He says in his description that "production of the regular 2016 loon has been curtailed to less than 59,000 coins." Can anyone else substantiate that?

Maybe answering my own question here but I see the Colonial Acres website shows 84 rolls of the regular 2016 Loonies at $34.95 a roll. Doesn't sound like less than 59,000 coins minted when you see rolls for sale less than double face value.

Indeed, punman, I would wait. I doubt the original Loon design will be that rare, and there's still a few months in the year.
Naturally, they would have a vested interest in claiming that only NIFC Loons will be minted this year. Best to wait.

A buddy of mine was at the Winnipeg mint on Saturday (he was in town for the old timers hockey game). He bought two rolls of regular design 2016 loonies from the boutique. Apparently the mint just completed a short run of them. The boutique employee pointed out 2 small palettes and said that's it for loonies this year. No more.
For a few moments I held a roll of 2016 loonies. Ooooooooooo. Then I had to give it back.
