Get the graded coin. Also, save for a common date in 63 as the 62 would probably show a trace of wear.

to have a nice looking uncirculated example is much better than an EF-AU example for a difference of $100 is IMO a good move. you will be happier with it and you will be able to get more out of it when it comes time to sell.

MS63 is 890. xf raw is 760 so 130 difference.

Agree with jbuck. Buy a nice graded 63 with sharp luster the first time and hang on to it. It will look great in the holder.

Dang....a year ago one of the big metals houses was blowing out NGC AU58 $10 Indian common dates for just over $700. You could pick and choose among a couple dozen well-photographed coins. It'll probably happen again if you wait.

did pick up a MS63 PCGS today. With the 5X ebay bucks promotion the net cost was just under $800. |

Nice pickup always go with certified mint state gold, it is worth the extra money in the long term.

If it only costs you $100 to buy a Mint State PCGS or NGC graded $10 Indian I'd do it a New York minute. The graded coins are easier to sell, and you don't have worry nearly as much about counterfeits. The grading services also have your back if a counterfeit gets into one of their holders. Do yourself a favor and check the serial number on the slab before you buy to make sure that the slab and the coin are genuine. I've been working on a presentation to my local club on this topic. I have few $10 Indians because when I upgraded for my type set I decided not to sell the coins that were displaced. Here is a piece I've owned for about 35 years which I had graded by NGC. It is an MS-63.   Edited by billjones

Unless you find an exceptionally nice MS62, go for a nice MS-63 (avoid MS-63 dogs). Legit TPG graded is the way to go, as there are many counterfeits out there, and it'll be easier to sell closer to the the price you want. ET |
