I;m on the fence with this one. Probably got an MS TPG grade but I'd say AU-58. |

AU-58 at minimum. I don't come across much MS old copper so my grading skills are obviously lacking.

Just to show you how nutty EAC grading can be, a well known expert graded this EF-45.  I'll buy every EF-45 like this he can supply to me if he is really selling them for EF-45 money. That would be what the business people call "a cash cow" for my hobby budget.  A couple of the "big names" that have been associated with this piece are Byron Reed and Dan Holmes. |

Another really great coin Bill! MS62 is what I would have guessed is I was not late to the party. My personal grade would be 58 and gorgeous. It is my experience that that the TPG's will overlook a minimum amount of rub if the coin has enough eye appeal. EAC'ers will often knock down the grade of a an AU coin for what I consider trivial matters. |

I have by no means any expertise in these early coppers ... but as a collector can indeed enjoy an outstanding coin when I see it. This is an absolutely gorgeous example of USA coinage history and I'm thrilled to have a chance to view it ... even only by photograph. Beautiful specimen. I was at AU58 as well. Appears to be the slightest friction on the highest points.
