This seller has a large number of very questionable coins currently up for bid including early copper and Seated dollars.

I don't see why they are "very questionable." They all look fine to me.

The coin is suspect to being a fake. I would not buy this coin as hair details are not crisp, the last 0 in 100 looks small, the berries look like bumps, and the berries wear pattern looks weird. There is no way that I am going to buy a $1800 coin from a seller who does not offer refunds.

@TypeCoin971793 - There is a thread in the counterfeit forum about this seller's 1864 IHC. There looks to be some differences between a genuine example and the one the German ebay seller is hawking. https://goccf.com/t/257819On the Seated dollars - I don't like them, they appear to be very weakly stuck and don't have the detail I'd expect. Many of them have areas on the coin where detail is missing.

That's called wear. Almost every single one of his coins is a problem coin, so that might be playing a part in making the coins look weird.

My vote would be cast copy. I don't think that it is an electro because none of the gray metal is showing though, and because of the edge. There is such a thing as a drop-in electro that could have an edge, but I don't think that this piece is one of those.

Seller says it came out of a PCGS slab, he gives a serial number, and says it sold at Heitage auctions, but I can't find a matching S-6 in the Heritage archives. Can someone look it up on PCGS's website and see what if they say what auction it was sod in.

PCGS does not show any auction for cert number 31574375. PCGS has the cert # as fine details damaged. Somehow the coin got better after being cracked out as seller notes coin grade as VF++.

It seems to have the same earmarks has the coin sold by Heritage, the color is now brown, not dark brown to black. If it is the same, why has it been cracked out of the holder? For a coin like this certified authenticity is a huge plus.

They look to be the same coin as far as I can tell.

Quote: My rule of thumb on any coin this old and/or valuable is to assume it's fake unless it has been professionally graded and slabbed (and even then I might want to get a second opinion). There's really just no excuse for a coin like this to be offered for sale raw. Why not spend a few dollars to make thousands?
