As others are saying ...it does look like that dime suffered a lot of damage after leaving the mint.

Is it a keeper? That's ultimately up to you. Is it worth anything? About a buck if it's 64 or older (64 and older are 90% silver). It doesn't look like silver to me, if that's the case it's worth 10 cents. That thing has lived a hard life...

Appears to have a mintmark above the date so it isn't silver. That makes it a horribly abused clad dime that was worth 10 cents BEFORE it was abused.

Send it in to get graded, I'm sure they would enjoy that. Who knows they may send you the coin back and and the grading fees.
