You may be able to combine some of your tiers a little bit but without knowing what it is it's hard to say. |

Thanks for the replies so far. Glad to hear about combined return shipping, It seemed a bit ridiculous if each submission would be shipped back individually.
Does PCGS use current market values (closer to coinsandcanada) or the charelton/trends fantasy when establishing whether a coin qualifies for Economy/Regular/etc...?
This is what I am looking to submit so far. Some are not valuable enough cost/benefit wise, but I would like to upgrade my registry set and protect a few more securely.

The values are basically for insurance purposes within reason. You can't slip gold into the economy or put a 4k coin into the economy, but if your economy coin ends up being more like 400 they won't come after you type thing. If you do under value something though and it gets lost in the mail ect you will have to eat the difference, the value you put on the submission forum is the max payout you would ever get no matter what. Looking at your submission plans there are definitely ways you could cut down on the number of submissions. I haven't seen the coins at all so this is just a submission optimization post. The biggest thing you could do would be to take the crossover and the regrade and resubmit them raw. The regrade I might hold for the moment and would be curious to know what slab it's in, but the crossovers if you have no attachment to the ICCS flips, put them in with the raw groups. That alone would cut your submissions in half basically |

I wanted to get some ICCS soft flips put into PCGS hard slabs. But after reading this I think I'll just send them to CCCS for the hard slabbing.

Purely wasted......
Do have to ask...why not just let most of these live in their ICCS holders? The 1965 and 1967 cents are $10 coins. Why spend $25+ to put it in a holder?
Be very careful sending Elizabeth copper to PCGS. Many ICCS coins will get downgraded big time by PCGS. Believe me I know!! You may end up with PCGS 63 or 64 coins. Are they useful to you? The chances of 66 are almost nil.

 with smallcentguy. Study your 1c coins very carefully before sending to PCGS. Rims, the strike and marks on the effigy matter a lot. Go check out the existing PCGS Registry sets online, and examine the photos carefully... I want to clarify the process.
I'm planning to send a new 2019 Proof silver and gold coins for grading. The mint released coins encapsulated.
Do I need to remove the coin from the capsule and place it into the 2 ½ x 2 ½ Mylar flips as requested by PCGS?
Can I ship coin encapsulated? I'm afraid to damage the mirror surface of the coins during the shipping.

ttl, Welcome!! You don't need to ship the COAs. But unless you are trying to form a registry set, why spend the money on certifying non-circulating coins from the mint? You will spend a lot of money on shipping, PCGS member fees and grading fees. At the end, you will not be adding value to the coins. Check out the track record of PCGS certified mint coins on ebay. It is not good. These coins do not need a third party certification to be accepted grade-wise. They are more or less all the same. |

I'm part of a Sovereign collecting facebook group, and another sovereign buy/sell group, and I can tell you anything RM proof or ms product that realizes a NGC PR70 (or MS70) enjoys a HUGE premium above the RM issue price. Also, certain issues, say the James Bond RM 2oz gold coin only has 50 issued (iirc) and if only 10 get submitted for grading, then that creates a certain scarcity of its own, for deep pockted investors.

Thank you to everybody. I agree with tripoli; some PF70 and MS70 coins gain HUGE premium vs regular coins.
I'm planning to send a few GB Silver Two Ounces 2019 Una and the Lion, 2020 Canada Peace Gold Coins.

The Una and the Lion coins have been realizing spectacular prices in recent auctions, if graded PF 70 and even 69. I may have seen a hammer price of 2000£ for an Ag example in NGC PR70 recently. @ttl, but I'm sure you knew that already. If not, search for 'numistacker' on youtube and fb. I plan to get certain of my RCM coins graded, primarily 1oz Au, for two reasons....no chance of being dislodged from the capsule and rattling about the case, and easier re-sale by my heirs in 50 years. |

I know that this is a relatively old thread but going to add my Two Cents for what it is worth. With COVID I have been shipping via FedEx. My experience has been that Canada Post is seeing delays in shipping with some Expedited services. I would suggest that unless your coin is of significant value (ie: $200 - may not be significant for some but it is too me) than I would not bother to put in a hard slab, I'd stick with the ICCS plastic flip or keep it 'raw'. When you factor in the cost of slabbing, plus shipping you are adding a significant amount to your overall cost per coin. I have only made a few submission but I try to submit at least 20 coins coins if possible. It lessons the cost per coin on shipping. I have done the Regular World coin submission but trying an Economy service this time. As far as I can tell the only difference in the two is the cost or grading per coin and the time it takes (longer for Economy). Lets see how it goes. I submit cause I want my coins in the hard case. I appreciate the ICCS grading and feel that their grading is most accurate for CDN coins. What I don't like is the two layers of plastic I have to view my coin through. Also I feel the hard slab protects it more. My experience of late is that PL and SP/PR CDN coins are treated well by PCGS, meaning I have seen improvements in some of my grades or straight grades. That being said some have down graded but the average has been a straight grade or improvement. Some people won't like that, not why I am subbing but the net outcome for most. |
