Just the slightest hint of handling - I'm going to say AU-58 but this one is really borderline mint state.

I like it when CCF confirms what I suspected.

PCGS said AU-53. I looked at this coin and said 58, maybe 55 on a bad day. I think it's worth a shot at an upgrade.

The coin does have a shot at an upgrade. Looking at it for a second time, I am wondering if the hit on the eagle's breast may have lowered the grade by a point.

Yes I think the hit on the breast is probably holding it back - just noticed that in the second photo

This is a lovely coin but it shows significant circulation rub in the fields and on Liberty's cheek and some of the high points of her hair. Luster persists mainly near the rims in the protected areas between stars and letters. I think the coin is solid for the assigned grade and could have achieved AU-55 on a different day at PCGS. If it were mine I'd be satisfied leaving it as is.

I think its a solid 55, but not sure what the difference in value would be (53 versus 55).

Jaobler, with coin in hand, I wanted to take pictures -- you are very correct. Fields show plenty of rub.

Reverse would have been semi-PL when mint state. As it is, it is still packing loads of mint luster. Obverse luster is present but more muted than the reverse, with cartwheel visible more towards the edges.

Also, was able to attribute this CC as a VAM-10 MPD. The curved bar between the denticles south of 9-2 is easily visible, especially under 10x or better.

Certainly no 53. My initial thought was maybe 58, but recent photos lead me to believe 55.

55 hits it right on the money for me. Leaving it alone. 53 to 58 would be worth it but not 53 to 55. In MS the price goes up to "I can't afford it" levels.
