Here are the "before" and "after" pics requested.... (I don't know where I'm putting all the 1930's Wheats yet, but the 50's are now in that jar and the 40's in the other) Don't know a good way to store them for long term, safely & securely.)(not so sure I'm gonna like this, and the 50's jar is nearly full already...sigh) What container types do you guys use ?  And now 2 of the 3 decades in jars...  And now pic showing the airtight container I formerly used to house them ALL, which became to small.  Edited by eaglefoot

Very cool. I recently went through a bucket of wheats - somewhere around 55 pounds (they weren't mine) - took me forever, but it was fun!

Yeah....but I luv em' ! And will never stop adding to the pile...  Now to find a container for the 30's....  I guess I will leave all the 1909-1929 ones in coin tubes. Best storage concept for them I suppose. So how and what do YOU guys all use to store yours ? |

I don't have many, I store them all in a zip lock bag, not that it will help you in your situation.

I only have mine seperated by denver and philly thus far but they are all in empty plastic coffee and pre-workout containers...one day ill get them all in their proper decades...mabi Edited by Slamnbass

Yeah, "organization" of our coins is a neverending endeavor it seems. There are ALWAYS coins/materials that I have been putting off or been meaning to "get to"....and that cold be YEARS sometimes... Then we get that wild hair....  |

I keep all my cents in rolls, and the rolls in boxes (when I have 50 of them). So everything is in neat "bricks".

I think your rolls and bricks idea might be my only other option. Something just doesn't feel right about having large jars as a long term storage option... |

It is interesting that I saw this thread today. This afternoon my father called me to say he has 2 coffee cans weighing about 17 pounds each full of wheat cents that he wanted to unload. Of course I am going to buy them. I have not looked at these coins in decades (since I was a kid). I expect that I will separate them by date and mintmark and roll them and store in shoe boxes. It will be fun!
P.S. I also have old pennies and nickels in jars that I put there many years ago. One of these days I will separate them and roll them like the others.

It took about 20-25 years of obsessive C.R.H., (with a 5-7 year break) to amass those ! ... My daughter will inherit my labors someday....I just try to get as many as possible until then !... She's 11 years old now. When she's a grandma and 74 years old, maybe her grandkids/great-grandkids will have fun seeing them and maybe the average Wheat cent value will have gone up a couple cents per coin !
