Let us know. Do be careful - buying a raw Trade dollar is risky business these days.

With a pic that would even make ants look for a microscope and no pic of the reverse, I'd stay away from this one as far as possible.

Nevertheless, how much does the seller ask for it?

I have now seen pics of both sides. It has a Type 2 Obverse with a Type 2 Reverse. Is there still a chance that it is fake. The asking price is $200 Canadian dollars.

Trade dollars are counterfeited like mad... do not trust it without large quality pictures and figuring out the diagnostics... The Chinese are pumping these out like nobody's business....

You can find a 1877 VF 30 for under $200 in a slab and a XF 45 for around $300 US dollars. Do not buy a raw Trade dollar unless you have a trusted source.

These are the best and most recent pics that the seller has sent to me. Both sides are Type 2 which is correct. Is there still a chance that it can be fake.

There is always a chance for something to be faked, I'm not familiar with these and there authenticity though.

Maybe I got lucky but the last three raw Trade dollars I bought from random sellers on ebay all made it into NGC slabs. I was fully expecting at least one of the three to be fake.

The following would give me concern about the coin's authenticity: I only see three fingers in the hand holding the branch and the stem in the branch appears thick. The arrows held by the eagle's claw are thick and jagged. The details in the eagle wings are not sharp.

also don't take my word for it but the feathers look a little odd.

Plus, it looks cleaned, almost certainly. Not a big fan of this one.

Once some better photos become available try applying this Trade dollar buying guide from an ebay member. I find this information very helpful to weed out some of the counterfeits:

FREE OPINION: Most likely fake to the point I wouldn't pay $5 for it.

The flatness of the strike particularly on liberty, the denticles are a mess, the color, the date....

I saw the problem with the fingers that Slider saw, and the date bothers me. 1 too thick 8 too large and too far from the 1 and too close to the 7. Top waves on the 7 look too prominent.
