Thank you all for the help! I may just wait to send it in then.

@silverwolf: I was questioning it at first, but after looking up examples of the 3-legs, I became pretty sure that this is one of them. Most have what looks like the lower shadow of a fourth leg. On normal Buffalo nickels with all four legs, the leg that's missing is very high relief.

Sure looks like a 3-legged Buffalo. Pretty cool find and worth sending in for sure. If you're only submitting one coin then look up a PCGS or NGC dealer through their respective websites and call to get some rate quotes first.

Awesome find!

I, personally, would send it into either ANACS or NGC.

I would not send it off...it seems like a fake.
I do not see the moth eaten like hind leg and the missing leg does not look normal:

Coin In Question:

Genuine Example:

Notice how on the coin in question and the genuine coin's leg (which is grade MS66 by PCGS) both look diferent.

I cannot see "E Pluribus Unum" do to picture being blurry.

Sorry for being so negative, I just wanted to let you know.

Thanks for the tip/comparison! I'll have to look closely at it later and try to get a clearer picture.

To me it is hard to compare a MS-66 with a G-4

If you could find a picture of a slabbed G-4 online
compare it with that.

One of the markers to look for is between the buffalo's legs.
The die for the 3 legged Buffalo did sit for a while
before being polished and put back into use.
Between the Buffalo's legs the die got some rust build
up. On mid to higher grade nickels this can be seen.
I have never seen lower grade 3 leg buffalo's in hand,
so I don't know if it can be seen. But I would look for it.

If there is a good dealer near you, I would ask for a opinion.

What ever you do don't sell it, before getting it into a
slab.

This really is a good coin to send into ANACS. It is the cheapest way to go, with out spending a lot, and find out
if it is real and what grade.

Later in the year ANACS will have a offer for two free submissions, you just pay shipping.

You have to sign up online, but that does not cost anything.

For example
I sent this coin in
Any-Tips-For-Getting-A-Coin-Slabbed?

Most were not 100% sure it was real. I sent it to ANACS which cost about $12 to have it slabbed.

I sold it the week I got it back for $80. I bought the
coin for melt. So some good profit.

It I would have sent it into NGC or PCGS it would have
cost closer to $40 to have it slabbed.

Sometimes the profit margin is much better on ANACS slabs.

There are coins like yours, and lower grade keys, that collectors just want to know it is real before they
purchase. Then they might end up breaking it out of the slab
and put the coin in their album. ANACS is very good for this.

Actually the last 3 ANACS insider specials have been 2 free coins graded when you pay for 5.

I guess to many people were taking advantage of the 2 free coins and they were losing money on the deal.

This special is going on now through July 31.

Yes please a better picture of the nickel, and take it OUT of the 2X2 before you take the picture. A big part of the problem with your first picture is glare from the plastic right in the diagnostic areas.

Well. I didn't take it out of the 2x2 still because I don't have much time. I was able to get an alright shot though (or at least better than before).

Anybody see anything noticeable?

Still, if ANACS is a cheaper trusted option, that may be the deciding factor. Thanks for the info, GR58!

Looks authentic. The weak back leg is easy to see now. ANACS is a great option. I believe with them (90% sure), you will have to pay the extra $7 variety attribution fee.
