The roller marks remain intact after strike. Weak details through out both obverse and reverse. Rims in place.

1. Rolled thin.
2. Weak strike or adjustment strike.
3. Struck Through Grease.

Thanks, Doug.

edit: was not meaning to say it is all three above, but rather list some possibilities that might cause this effect.

My guess it's also a combination of things. One more possibility to add is Inadequate Upset. Almost all the perimeter devices are affected.

Thanks, Guys!!
So because I'm new to this I end up Googling the terminology a lot, and I'm amazed at how much everyone else knows.
For me it's like trying to read at an 8th grade level, when you're in the 2nd grade.
Thank you.
Hopefully someday I'll be able return the favor.

This could be an EDS example of my coin.Note the "U" stands out also on the reverse.

The "U" does get your attention. I wonder what it was struck through? NGC didn't seem to know.

I suppose both coins were Struck Through Grease. Was it roller marks that caused the lines on Lincoln's head on the first coin?

Truman, IMO this is a coin you could send in if you wanted. It is a great example of Struck Through Grease.

I would not submit this one to be graded. The coin is probably worth about what the grading fees would be.

Indeed! Where were my manners? I do agree, it could be sent in, but it would probably cost more than the value of the coin.

That is correct.I also wondered why NGC didn't mention what it was struck through. My guess is the prominent "U" threw them for a loop. It's fascinating that an entire coin is struck through but 1 letter is perfect.

Your welcome @truman1404.I try to post coins that I have to reference similar coins, especially because of the "U" in this instance.
