Great coin! I have become more interested in these lately and would like a solidus of Justinian.

Excellent write-up.

The later Byzantine solidii are more numerously available than the aureii of the earlier Roman Empire, and therefore much more affordable.

Very nice acquisition nonetheless!

Great coin and good choice for a gold addition that is vaguely affordable.

Thanks Ron. Fortunately Byzantine solidii are among the cheapest options for ancient/medieval gold. But I think those miniscule Indian gold coins take the cake when it comes to cheap gold!

As much as I would love to own some ancient gold coins, I'm more partial to silver ones. There is nothing like a large heavy tetradrachm.

Very nice writeup. Much of the fun of ancient coins is learning the related history. Thanks!
