For me, its more not being able to find the right coin at the right price. The local dealers near me don't seem to be getting much new material in lately, so every time I go its the same stuff I didn't like the last time I was there....

I just spent considerable funds on new Remington alarm system to guard the coins I have. I have motion detector lights, wireless alarm, security camera and now Remington 870 Marine type 12 gauge shotgun ready for midnight callers. I also spend money on large bank deposit box just to safe guard most of my coins. This does tend to defeat the joy I get from sitting in the bath tub and throwing gold coins into the air and letting them hit me on the head. Just like Scrooge McDuck.

I have sold some coins at a decent profit, so that I could pay for repairs to my car.
The investment upside on the coins had run out of steam. The timing of the coins sale worked out well.

Ulimately, a total loss, because
cars would have to be the most efficient waster of money there is, apart from booze, drugs and gambling.
Rest in Peace

What terry8835 said. Sorta.

I bought a house. Spending $$ to bring it up to speed and make a 'safe room'. If I buy coins now, gotta move 'em.

And listening to my sister's angst over my nephew relocating for two to five. crap. Oh well, everything is past the SOL.

And my daughter's drama over a breast biopsy.

We re-keyed the new house and I bought a ladder today.

Well maybe with good behavior he'll be back in one to two.

For me it is none of the above. I have not bought a coin for around three months, and will not buy another coin for around three more months for one reason: my local coin shop is closed do to renovations in the mall it was located in (and I do not buy coins online). I am patient though, and can wait for the next coin show

Can't find the right coin at the right price and sellers attitudes. Apart from seller putting ridicilous prices on coins, their attitiude towards me while I'm there determines whether I'll return or not. Sadly, I've found quite plenty of those recently. Seller who are not happy you're there or sellers you have to talk yourself out from a purchase are sellers I will most likely not return to, atleast not willingly.

I basically have the wife reason, except I'm not married, so it's actually my mother.
(And she's mostly just worried that I'm spending money that I didn't earn - the way the family budget works out right now, if I actually start earning money, I could probably afford spending about 60% of it on coins, which, if my current job attempt goes through, may well be something silly high like $200 per month).

Also a lot of the coins I want are silly expensive and I just can't make myself buy anything for $10 (unless I very definitely know it's worth more, but then I start worrying if it's a counterfeit because nobody in their right mind would sell the real thing so cheaply)... really even $2 is tricky.

For me, I voted cash funds. I need to pay for college somehow. However, my summer job will cover most of this semester and my college fund should pay the balance and the next two semesters. My first year was free.

Right now, I am using my monies to buy coins for cheap to resell. That's how I keep my hobby alive.

I let Lil' Guard Duck take care of that. He's better trained in using his bazooka.
