Not a bad deal, really. Even if you dumped them the worst you would lose is $8.15, right?

This may be a bit off the subject but... did you get the metal box too? A lot of those are worth a few bucks -- some sell for quite a bit even if they are worn and dinged.
Anyway, a box of coins to search sounds like fun to me.

Sounds good to me! By the way, At least some dates can be determined without a date. I came across a dateless 1921 S a while back. It will be worth more that way than acid dated.

Yeah , really surprised he took the $30 . Now all I need to do is get some keys or semi-keys to come alive ,and I'll be sitting pretty . The metal box came with it but no cover .

You ever watch "Pickers"? Those guys squeeze money out of rusty junk. That stuff just does not thrill me that much. Some times you can buy old books that have no value themselves, but people put documents and paper money in the books and then they are forgotten. It is hard enough to be semi-knowledgeable about one thing much less hoards of stuff which is all hard to sell retail.

Sounds like a interesting pickup.
If it was me, I would sort through the no dates to see how many have mint marks. Those that have mint marks might have the best chance of having some better (restored) date coins.

Quote: Really? How so? I'm not that good at attributing buffaloes, but I believe some dates can be determined by some feather detail or something like that.

As I'm going through the partial dates I'm noticing that 97% of them are from 1916 to 1929 . Some with mint marks on 1923 to 1929 . Hey this is getting interesting .
