Very nice looking coin and very good that you saved and purchased
a gold coin at your age.

When I was 12, it was possible to purchase common gold coins in
the 2X face range. I remember I was offered them in a coin shop
at those prices, when I was 14. I often kick myself for not buying some
then.

YN C ...... I hope you keep picking up nice coins for the rest of your life.
You could end up with a very impressive collection.

Beautiful coin! I'm quite jealous, as I certainly didn't have anything that nice at your age!

I started collecting when I was in third grade. Was lucky to have some good people advising me (wish I had done all they said, but I was a just a kid) One summer, I think between 6th and 7th grade circa 1966 I mowed lawns and did yard work all summer to get money to buy gold coins. (yes, I was a disturbed child and did not play well with others) This was one of them, glad I never took it out of the original holder. This represented 28 mowed lawns at $2 a lawn.

A nice condition Double eagle is quite often the most valuable coin in a collection of U.S. classic coins.

I have a St Gaudens, but my most valuable coin is outside the area of U.S. coins.

A double eagle for mowing lawns? Now that's insane!

Here, you'd have to mow the lawn full time for 3 months straight...
... assuming you got a relatively high and consistent hourly rate from your employers,
... assuming you don't need to eat or drink in the meantime,
and of course, you'd only get a circulated and/or cleaned specimen for that!
