Agree definitely not natural, however it may have been accomplished.

There is no such thing as "artificial" or "natural" toning. All toning is either "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable".

I understand what your saying.

The terms natural toning (NT) and artificial toning (AT) seem
to be acceptable terms.

If I had to choose how to describe the difference I would go with

Normal toning - coins that have toned under normal collecting condition
Abnormal toning - coins that have toned under other than normal condition

That is my version of AT and NT

What ever we call it, the coins the OP posted are not the type of toning
most desire.

If you were a TPG, would you grade and slab them?

with this criteria all the Morgans that sat in the treasury vaults and acquired toning while in the vault would be AT because that is not a normal collecting condition.

They look like they've been laundered and ran through the dryer while still being in a jeans pocket.

They look like they were in someone's pants pocket when it went through the washing machine cycle.
