The Celator was a great magazine on ancient coins, I subscribed for many years. Too bad it's gone now, but good to see that you can still read them on-line.

May I also commend V-coins for having Zach on their staff. I have had more than my fair share of bad luck with V-coins and Zach has always been utterly proffessional and completely on the ball when acting as a go between in disputes or chasing up items that have gone astray.

I concur, David. The "Beast" is a good guy. I've had constructive correspondence with him too. As those who are new to The Celator will see, he had a monthly column that he co-authored with Kevin Barry called "The Internet Connection." Also, his website beastcoins.com has been very helpful to me over the years as I've worked on attributions...it's a good resource. Beasley's work on the "This Week in History" write-up's, that I receive via email but which are also available on Vcoins' Community page, are impressive and well-researched. Btw, back in February I wrote here about Parthian horsemanship and the Battle of Carrhae: https://goccf.com/t/253250&SearchTe...HorsemanshipAs the anniversary of that battle was approaching in May, I recommended to Zach that it might be a worthy topic for his "This Week" series. I'm looking forward to seeing that. I still have a few copies in print, When I moved I tossed a lot of old mags. Wish I would have kept those.

Love being able to read old magazines and when I find them in person at a good price I always buy them.

I can only assume that the pre-press word had gotten around through other publications and people were inclined to chime in early. |
