Quote: what I meant was the gold bullion Libertads will be cheaper with this drop in gold. I am in the market for some 2016's and so with the drop in gold, they will be cheaper than if they came out 2 weeks ago.
I see. How much of a premium do you figure on a 1/4oz libertad? And yes keep us posted when you hear anything. Been seeing some of the ones posted on youtube and they look really nice. As far as the APMEX set it's all about that reverse proof. Not a big fan either of the collaboration with APMEX but at least it still looks nice. I like to display them plus I don't think it'd ever reach a price that I'd feel compelled to sell but.......never say never, right!

@wyzguy
I am not sure on what premiums are running, never have looked at them long enough to know. I personally prefer the 1 oz and 1/2 ounce gold pieces when I collect bullion and am not even sure what those run.
If memory serves me right, both Don and MCM run auctions of these when they come in. So I will be regularly stalking to see when they offer mexico gold Libertads. Hopefully they have quite a few offerings for all of us.
I know most of them are probably going to be graded by both Don and MCM and what I like to do is go for MS 69 and PF69s, I dont care to buy for the extra cost of the 70s.
But yes I will keep an eye out and post as I find 2016 gold Libertads!

Hey guys, I'm new here but I started a chat with someone at APMEX a couple of days ago asking about the gold Libertads. They said we are about a month out for releasing them.

If anyone purchase the 2016 proof/reverse proof set from APMEX make sure to take a good look at your proof coin. There's been multiple complaints of milk spots on the proof versions. I got two sets myself and after seeing the vids some were posting on youtube I took a another look at mine and noticed one of my proofs had milk spots as well. Think you only get 14 days after receiving them to contact APMEX for an exchange/refund so make sure you do it before then.

Thanks Wyzeguy, BTW, I ordered mine the first day they were available and still don't have them. I'm hoping to get them soon.

Wow! That's crazy! I also ordered first day and got mine in two days. I thought they prided themselves on fast shipping. Hopefully they're doing some QC and making sure they don't send out any with milk spots. Another complaint was the capsules. A lot, mine included, arrived scuffed, scratched and cracked along the outer edge. They're supposed to send new ones when they send the replaced set.

Hmmm, how much you want to bet that Monkeybusiness was probably someone from APMEX lol Disappointed by hearing about the milk spots. Seems pretty typical tho..

BTW- I did notice that D Bailey and Sons is also running auctions for 2016 silver Libertads, great way to get a fair price on them.

It'll be very, very interesting to see where the Mexicans take mintages from here. Do they ramp up mintages to possibly meet Libertad demand or do they simply not care, and make 2017 a typical low mintage year?
It seems like they may've felt a little pressure in 2016 and upped the mintage a wee bit. Only with Libertads would a collector think 10k is a high mintage though...unreal.

yea I was reading an article and looks like mintages went up across the board.
prices look stagnant for some Libertads looks like, I wonder if the mexico mint plays with the numbers and we will realize even higher numbers later on than what was released this past November for 2016.

" Hmmm, how much you want to bet that Monkeybusiness was probably someone from APMEX lol" Well I wish I worked for APMEX, but unfortunately I do not. I just started a chat conversation with them on the website which is what anyone can do. Anyways...I seriously hope we haven't seen the last of low mintages for Libertads, but we'll see what this year holds.
