We can poke fun at these listings but, would it not be better if we try to inform the seller of their obvious mistake?
Granted there are a lot of scams but, a first time seller may not know. IMHO.

He's been trying to sell that same quarter with the same write up on ebay for at least four years now. Think he'ld have figured out by now that no one will pay that much, but I guess hope springs eternal.

I first saw this one at least 3 years ago on ebay. He's a loser looking for a sucker.

Out of sheer curiosity, I looked through the sold listings for US coins on ebay that were around that starting bid or more. They were all stunning, mint state gold coins in holders. (And even then, a best offer was accepted.)

Yeah, I'd say this coin is in the same league, definitely....

Raise your hand if you want ebay telling you what you're allowed to ask for your stuff?

Didn't think so.

That's a very valid point bobby but didn't the US Government ban & then regulate snake oil salesmen for "Deceiving" the common man back in the day. Don't get me wrong I do agree with your point but there are two sides. There are all kinds of laws on the books now for misleading/deceiving/etc etc and Thank god for it or my parents would have lost their life's savings

The coin is a bad joke, any potential buyer must beware. I believe people with that kind of money to spend on coins have better sense than to buy this one. There are already plenty of laws on the books. The problem is there are too many laws, and more and more everyday.

I guess I want to know what deception is involved here. The coin is authentic, and as described. Only the price is at issue, and this is still a free country and he can ask whatever price he wants for his property.

Anyone is free to purchase his goods, or decline to purchase, if they are of a mind to.

What, exactly, is the deception and horrible wrong that you are all claiming is occurring here? Or is this just yet another attempt to disparage an ebay seller for no good reason?

I don't think most of us are saying that anything illegal or immoral is occurring here, just making fun of the guy for being stubbornly stupid and clueless, despite efforts to explain things to him. Maybe we shouldn't poke fun at him, but he has been told what he has, and he still wants to believe that someone is going to pay him a fortune for nothing.

This guy has had this coin up for over a year now, actually going on two. Heads up - not worth $25 even. More like $0.25.

Move your decimal place next time....
