 I must say, it's a rare day, when there are 3 extremely rare Canadian coins with population < 10, that are available for purchase if you have enough spare cash lying around i didn't have the cash  |

What I would do right now for $26 is almost heinous.... can't even think of having $26K..... still was a pretty interesting start to the weekend to watch the GB auction

I, disagree the New Zealand mule dollar coin has a plausible creation theory, that the RCM was minting the New Zealand coins at the time and between change over, the pressman was given the wrong set of dies and struck a batch of these mules, tried to retrieve the struck units but a few was missed thus the copies on the market. If these were created on purpose like the gold Manitoba dollar most graded ms63 or 64, these New Zealand mules are all pretty circulated, most of them at best ms60 and at least one of these mules was found in New Zealand, one would expect much better graded examples if they were custom orders. Just like the US famous King Farouk gold coin if the US court allows the family the return of the 8 or 10 units, you can't blame the collector for buying them. The Manitoba gold piece with all fees and tax approaches 15,000.00 a decent price, I just wanted some collectors to understand the history with it and the accompanying risks owning this coin. Although the New Zealand mule is cool, the ones I've seen has no eye appeal. |

or $26,000 could buy you 26 sq ft of a Vancouver Condo......those coins are sounding better and better.....
I agree, I can't understand the interest in these oddball coins, let alone paying these crazy prices.

The 2000 P 50 cent piece, never really understand it's value, was given as gifts by RCM, there was around 300 employees at the time, wonder where the rest of the clocks are collecting dust at these prices. |

The 2000P 50 cents came attached within a clock that was given by RCM to RCM employees. Most are probably in landfills...   Edited by canadian-varieties

Not quite these dimes are worth million or two, in Canada only one coin has sold for over million the 1911 dollar

I meant insofar that the coin were exclusive gifts to mint employees. I know the values are not comparable.

The 1985 New Zealand dollar mule is very much a legit error strike, as John100 noted...
