Did you contact the seller? I would see what he has to say. You may not even have to return the coin. He may just refund you the amount and take the loss. That way, you don't have to go through the headache of returning anything.

Start with contacting the seller. Hopefully you can work things out with him directly. If not just open a case with ebay and they will refund your money. Return the item with a signature required. It costs an extra $2.50 or so but will be helpful if he tries to claim it didn't arrive. ebay strongly favors buyers in a dispute. So I wouldn't worry too much. |

 Get the signature option on the shipping. 1903 O is a better date coin .... if it was a good deal I hope you still get the coin. |

ebay currently does not have an exchange program, so any exchange logistics will need to be worked out between you and the seller. ebay has announced that they will shortly have an exchange program. On a wrong coin sent refund you should contact the seller before requesting a refund through ebay as you should ask the seller to pay for the return shipping and let the seller know that you want to return the coin with signature required. The seller would need to issue you the shipping amount credit through paypal. If you use the ebay system to pay and print the return label for a refund, it will not give you the option of signature required or insurance as the only option that I could find was first class with tracking on a return label. It appears that you would need to handle you own shipping label if you want insurance or signature required and then enter the tracking number into the ebay system.

you should have no problem, and since it was the fault of the seller for sending the wrong coin, I would first contact the seller of course. if the seller is honest like most of them all, he or she will be more than accommodating. if that for some reasons, just contact paypal and ebay, in that you did not "get the item as described". relax, ebay and paypal favors buyers over sellers many times over. however, if the seller is new or "iffy", I would keep the coin you received with the condition to the seller you will return the coin you were sent as soon as he sends you the right coin. relax...  |

I had something similar happen once. I ordered a barber half, and the seller sent me one of the same grade, but different coin. I just asked him directly if I could exchange for the one in the listing, and he apologized and sent me the right one after receiving mine back. It's an inconvenience but if the seller is honest he'll try to make it right.

I contacted the seller and he owned up to his mistake. I will send the coin back to him. Big difference in value of the coin I paid for and the coin I got. He was saying he would try and contact the guy who got my coin by mistake and get him to return it. That does not sound all that reassuring to me. I will have to pay postage because as you all say I need to have tracking.

I don't sell much on ebay, but my ocd makes me check label and packages 10 times in fear of same scenerio. I hope it's a happy ending and honest mistake! |

There are always photographic records for comparison in the event of a dispute. Agree most ebay sellers are honest, and that they wouldn't last long if they weren't. |

I swapped labels like this shipping something once. It wasn't ebay but the two buyers were from a message board we all go on and they actually exchanged the items by shipping them to each other. I always triple check now |

This makes me wonder about buying really rare and/or expensive coins on ebay? What if I spent $10,000 to get a 1916 LSQ and I got a 1917 LSQ instead? I know I could dispute it and the Discover Card is the one that actually pays for the coins via Paypal. So I would dispute it via my credit card if it came to that but I am hoping for good non-formal resolution. No bad feedback if it is simple mistake. I sold stuff on ebay once and what a pain it was for me. The buyers were always complaining about shipping costs as if things shipped for free and boxes, tape, packing and gas cost nothing. I enjoyed my ebay experience but I would not do it again. The only ones that made money was ebay and Paypay. I sold quite a bit of stuff but I figured out pretty quickly I was making zero profit. |

the seller is responsible for your return shipping costs as well..it was their mistake. so if he can't get your original coin back, he will have to refund to you.. your original price , original shipping and return shipping..

I bought the 1903-O Morgan back from the dealer since he relisted just for me. We had a nice chat and the hatchet is buried. Honest mistake! Now I must decide if I want to buy another Morgan or get Sig Sauer P226 since this is a pistol that is almost a collectors item even if it is new. 50 years from now grandfathers will pass the Sig onto their grandchildren. P226 costs over $1000 which Glock 19 costs $600. Glock is now called "America's gun". One you lock and load no external safety device and no de-cocker. Off topic but one of my other interests. Really high quality stuff often increases in value as the years go by.
