I stopped posting the Diagnostics of genuine errors so as not to help educate those creating the fakes..

Broken-Coin, I don't understand why you don't just post it here on CCF in the counterfeit forum with your explanation so Bobby can have it removed. ebay may not listen to us individually, but they listen to Bobby, and instead of complaining that no one listens, you could easily get it removed via that route. Bobby has done wonders for the hobby and us, and usually with little thanks.

Why does it have to be posted in the counterfeit forum for someone to do something about it?

Quote: Why does it have to be posted in the counterfeit forum for someone to do something about it? There is one section completely & totally dedicated for reporting items like this. " ebay counterfeit reporting for all US coins & currency" bobby can not go looking in every section of his sight for these reports. It's not cost effective or time efficient. also all reports are in one place for other members can be made aware and forewarned. The only request he has is report it in that section. That would be my guess

The only "someone" here that they listen to with little question is Bobby, so, to get Bobby to do it, for which he donates his time and effort, frequently with not just little thanks but actual complaints, you follow Bobby's rules.

This is not the first time bobby131313 has replied to one of my ebay fraudulent listings threads here, and honestly don't want to trouble him.. I also know most (not all) sellers I see in the error categories that try and take advantage of the novice collector, will constantly relist their garbage.. If CCF prefers, I can post on the counterfeit forum, but the Coins/Currency are Genuine, it's the self-made errors that are fake.. Next question - I search ebay's Global Sites, and a few day's ago, on eBay/India, I found a 1955 double die with a asking bid of 100,000 Rupees that is very questionable, should I report that also? If so, I'll get on the laptop and that will be my 1st reported post..

Since some of us don't travel outside the paper money forum and don't know who bobby is, how are we supposed to know these rules?

I also contacted this seller when I made my comment. And politely told him that even though he/she may not realize it that he is selling a fake error and should take it down. I didn't get a response. But I explained what the real ones look like and that even though I don't think he faked it that he should know that he is misleading buyers. Sometimes you get nasty replies. Sometimes they agree. This seller didnt do anything.

I know you can't contact other bidders but I find it ironic that if you try to contact someone to warn them they are bidding on a fake item and click on their name it says: "To keep ebay a safe place for buyers and sellers, member-specific information is not displayed in the bid history. Review the rules for buyers." I was trying to keep it safe... this feature prevented me from doing so... When I read and commented on this post I clicked on the link in the "new post" tab. I didn't realize this wasn't in the category that it had to be in for Bobby to see it. If only somehow he saw it anyways maybe it would have been taken down.

You can imagine the pile-up on ebay if you could contact other bidders! Think of the shilling opportunities, not to mention the damage you could do to someone's rep. Yikes. Anyway, best bet is to know your stuff and do your research before bidding on the Bay.

Yesterday I posted 3 self-made currency errors on the Counterfeit Reporting Forum and found another fake error that matches this one on ebay this morning.. I will report it when I'm on the computer later as my Tablet is not user-friendly when posting outside links..
