MS-61 through MS-63 = BU
MS-64 & MS-65 = Choice BU

BU means Brilliant Uncirculated and nothing more....it is NOT a grading system. The only thing it implies is that a coin is mint state.

In ebay land - BU may mean nothing. It could be brilliant uncirculated or recently dipped or just another acronym to add to the item description.

Brilliant is just a word and how it applies to a coin; well let's just say opinions vary.

i think its just lazy of someone not wanting to take the time to place an accurate grade on a coin by using an old outdated systems that really has no bearing on todays collector looking to purchase a coin.

Well then, that's the point, isn't it? Not lazy, just deceptive.

I guess it means a little different to everyone

When using the term to represent grades

BU - MS 60 through MS 62
Choice BU - MS 63 and MS 64
Gem BU - MS 65

I have always looked at it the same way as GR58.
