I definitely like the patina of the 1875-S better. The other one has the appearance of an old cleaning, although apparently market acceptable to PCGS.

The 1877 looks VERY abrasively cleaned, IMHO. Buy to keep, not to upgrade! I'd go with the 1875

The 75 s looks original and the type 2 reverse on the 75s is a little harder to find a nice coin to put in your collection. I would pass on the 77s as you can do better on the most common Trade dollar date.

The 1875 has a more "original" look to me. If I were given the choice to purchase just one it would be my pick. And the CAC sticker would most likely nudge me anyway.

Add me to the group that likes the 75 S better.
For the 77 .... because I am not liking the look very much.. It would have to be a very good price for me to buy it

I'd pass on both. Try to get one that looks like CC2012's as that is completely original.

The 75 has much more eye appeal.
If the price is right I'd go with it over the other one.

Bought the 1875 passed on the 1877
I would have expected the 77 to be graded details or cleaned or something

Have to agree with TypeCoin - I don't particularly care for either, and certainly not the clearly cleaned '77.

If I had to chose I'd go with the first one it looks more original.

Agree the 1875-S is the better coin. However, the eagle shows a lot of wear, with much less remaining feather detail than the 1877 posted by CoinCollector2012. That 1877 is more deserving of a CAC sticker IMO.

The 1877 is not deserving of a straight grade, much less a CAC sticker. It is obviously harshly cleaned and I have seen much more original coins put in Details - Cleaned slabs. Buy the coin, not the slab.

If you can afford a higher graded example, pass on both of these.
