Over here a lot of firms will run wanted adds as a cheap way of advertising
Look guys how good we are doing we need people constantly
But If you apply the vacancy is filled

Others have to run adds all year round because they have a 25% turnover and even with a policy of having a hot body in every chair they do not meet quota

Having read litterally thousands of jobdescripitons I seem to miss the part about flexibility
Or is that part forbidden to mention

If you can bend over while standing and touch your toes-
You are flexible

I can do that without any problems! :D

In fact, if necessarily, when I sit down, my bottom of my palms can reach the toes without much problems. Do I qualify now? ;)

Only if you will work for unpeeled peanuts gx

One option that most overlook is being an apprentice. Working in a shop can give you an education that would take years of study. Research is one of those things that most collectors overlook also. One quick look to identify a coin is far from research.

This only counts when you do it bending backwards ( not forwards )

Knowning there are other collectors more knowledgeable and experienced than myself, I dare not call myself a numismatist. However,if "physical flexibility" is the only criteria.....no problems there, even in my ripe old age, can easily do the splits or even wrap either of my legs round my neck. Perhaps I should be a "contortionist"...

I wrote about this another offer they had...Mr Minshull wrote back right away and said to be sure to send in a form but I wasn't able too...right now I'm not in a place where I could just pick up and move to TX...
I would like a job like that (if not that maybe Fish and Wildlife Officer) but as of yet I'm just a lawn mower....

I can consider myself a Professional Numismatist in that I offer free storage for CCF folks of their valuable coins here in the very low (5%) humidity of Arizona's central western desert. The environmental conditions are guaranteed to keep your coins from corrosion, toning, and the eventual need for harsh cleaning. Such a deal, yes?

I am absolutely no numismatist
I know how to judge and grade some goldcoins known to me that is all

My remark on flexibility probably is not known or the concept may be illigal in the US

Here if they write about flexibility they mean working saturdays or sundays or 60 hours a week for a pay of 37.5 hours a week from
8.30 am till 5 pm monday to friday

This summer I refused to go and work 3 weeks in another country
( 12 hour days and a different city every 3 or so days )
They telephoned me three times before they understood no is no
I work by way of an interim bureau in between me and any employer
these days

I don't have time tonight to get out a dictionary and look up "numismatist." However, to me, the term has always meant "One who collects and studies coins and other types of currency."

Does one have to be knowledgable in the various technical aspects of the hobby to be a numismatist?

Depends on whom you ask. Some think that you must be a member of some collecting organization to be considered serious. Others, feel as if you must be a recognized person, to be serious.

Like everything else, opinions are free, but do not require any thought to be uttered.

Personally, I believe that to be a "numismatist", only YOU can decide if you are or are not.

If a third party grader and a high volume seller both declare
that peru has pesos instead of soles
I am going to say I am a numismatist

Webster defines numismatics as "the study or collection of coins, tokens, and paper money and sometimes related objects (as medals)"

http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/numismatist

A numismatist is one who studies or collects...

Therefore, we are all numismatists. We are all students.

Numismatologist - "One versed in numismatology"

Numismatology - "The collection and study of money (and coins in particular)."

The English language is just amazing. So many words to say the same thing. It does make us all sound so much more impressive to call ourselves numismatologists. One might think we all had PHD's.
