I bought a small coin collection probably 10 years ago, that was purchased probably 30 years ago mail order. I forget the company, but the unsuspecting collector had purchased from was so ridiculously overpriced, that I kept having to apologize my offers on each coin, because they all had the original receipts. It's like grandma or grandpa going to the souvenir shop to buy you a authentic arrowhead.

Its about the same as publishers clearing house that the wife gets and try to sell you junk.
Coins like a V nickel, buffalo, and the 2 Jeffersons for 4 payments of 3.99 plus $5.99 shipping. all circ. common dates.

I could sell all my common spares and get well. Also the cents and modern dollars.

I have never bought any of those bargins

This is a very misleading ad. The title says
Quote:
The Complete Barber quarter Collection
which to me indicates you'd get all the mint marks too but then it says one from each of the 25 years. It's not "complete" then. JMO

Depends on how you define complete set, We always say to new collectors that you can define your set the way you want One way is often to assemble a "complete" date set and that is what is being offered here. I would say it IS a complete set.

.....and at first glance I thought it was saying the whole collection for $34, so I bet lots of people buy it and then are shocked to see it's only for one coin.

I agree. Dansco and others make date-only albums, so it is not only a valid concept of a set, but one that is somewhat popular.

It is amazing how many people fall for things like this. A Doctor I knew told me he always sends in for all such bargains. It never even occurs to him they may be just rip offs. So many people fall for the advertisements.

It's not a 'complete" collection unless you get all the different Barber quarters.

But more worrisome is the cost: "The Complete Barber quarter Collection; A complete collection of Barber silver quarters with one coin from each of the 25 years of mintage ; $34.95 +$3.95 Shipping & Service per coin; 1 payment of $38.90."

This is saying you get the compete collection for $38.90. But ed points out that it's per coin. They are lying!

The little sparkly things in the photo sold me. Plus, I can pay every month and just get two coins every other month! Sure, I might be thinking, hey, was I supposed to get coins this month or next month? Wait, did I get any coins last month? Or was it the month before? But at least it saves me the hassle of having to rip open an envelope so often.

I'd reckon 20 of 35 dollars on that price tag is for the box.
