If you are seriously asking the question; "If I were to go to the bank and buy 1 roll of dimes, what is the odds it would contain at least 1 silver dime in it?"
then you have the WRONG hobby, don't even start. PERIOD.
you are asking this question to people who boxes and boxes of coins per week. For example just last night I went through:
$690 Quarters
$300 Dimes
$138 nickels
And found no silver, however my yearly average to date is roughly 1 silver dime for every $50 or so dollars, and for quarters its about 1 for $500.
I am up in Canada but the rules still are the same, this is a volume play, if you are not committed to this then you are just playing.

I went through about $100K in dimes between 2009 and 2014.
About one silver dime found per 30 rolls.
When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

While I don't search rolls, I do use the self-checkout register at my local Price Chopper and on occasion pay the decimal amount with 1950's B/U Lincoln Cents & Proof Cents to Quarters from 1960 to early 1970's.. I always imagine a younger person receiving them and getting excited, and if only one person takes up coin collecting, it will have been worth it.. When I started collecting, Morgan & Peace Silver Dollars were still in circulation and I remember getting excited receiving my first 1965 Clad Quarter as everything was still silver.. |

At this time of year I'd avoid buying cases of dimes and ask the bank to " save" customer rolled coins for you. In the area I live in, that seems to yield a better collectable selection of any coin denomination than buying cases and at this time of the year you probably will have more success in finding something of value. YMMV. |

First dime I looked at was a 1964 Roosevelt - 1st silver coin I ever found in the reject tray! Others were 1965, 2000 and 1999. Hoping to find more as the holiday season moves forward. Now I'll stop by that store everyday. No luck at local banks so far this holiday, hopefully that will change. |

The answer is simple... It's either 0% or 100% depending on whether or not you find one in the roll you're searching  |

You can knit dollies, sell them for a buck each, buy silver with those dollars, and have a lot more silver than the same amount of time spent roll hunting.

If you get lucky and get customer wrapped rolls, it's about 1 in 15, but if you are really unlucky and get machine wrapped rolls the chances drop to 1 in almost infinite. The only way there is a silver dime in machine wrapped rolls is if the machine accidentally let a silver dime through. If the rolls you get are new mint state rolls, then you will never find a silver dime. It all depends on what types of rolls you get.

I find on average 2 silver dimes per box of machine wrapped rolls. This machine must not reject silver. I think it may be specific to certain areas.

I don't think you can really put odds on it. I do think your chances will be higher with CWR and not impossible with MWR.

Out of the hundred grand in dimes that I searched, the averages were about the same for silver in both hand-rolled and machine-rolled.
