@Alpha2814 - I would have, but the 5 dollar bill is already in circulation. I just wanted to put a unique amount for a coin on the poll. If this were more of a favorite thread, I would've putted that on the poll. This thread is more based on reviving a unique number of money for a coin into circulation.

As for the 3 cent coin, here you go:

@Coinfrog - Thanks for the welcome. :)

@Omegaraptor - I think pennies make a good donation. They can also be used in wishing fountains, to trade in for coins and cash at the bank, to scratch a lottery ticket, self-checkout lanes, some transit buses(depending on location), stamp machines at a post office, to teach a little kid how to count, use as bingo chips, etc.

I have also used 5 pennies with other coins and dollar bills for lunch money at the high school, and they rounded every item you get there to the nearest nickel. I have also done that at a few other places that round everything to the nearest nickel as well.

Three-cent bronze was a pattern coin (on first reading, I confused it with the nickel version).

Twenty Cents. No contest.

We will need it when we kill the cent and nickel (which makes the quarter problematic).

"Bringing back" these kinds of denominations implies some actual purpose. I just don't see it. They're never going to bring back metal with intrinsic value, so I'd rather carry paper money than the kind of massive dollar amount in heavy coins you end up toting around in countries with $1 and $2 coins.

It's not worth the time bringing back retired denominations of coins since no significant or recent economic trend or event has justified an action such as this.

I just cannot envision it happening either since current coin styles and denominations undergo thorough preliminary deliberations of current economic conditions to best accommodate the public's use of any coin, old or new.

Most coins I get I keep in a bag in the car in case I go through a drive through or something. I never carry any in my pocket. When the bag fills up I run them through a machine to get paper I can change into real (silver) coinage. Pennies I just throw out

I don't see any need to bring back any coins but I put my Two Cents in for fun

@jaxenro - You can always cash or trade in pennies at the bank, donate, or something if you don't want them. Older pennies are worth a lot more than the face of their value.

I'd love to see the Peace dollar come back with a $50 face value. Bringing back Gold isn't realistic since the price per ounce is so high that a $20 gold piece would be microscopic. Silver, by contrast, works great right now for high denomination coins since the metal value is around $15/ounce give or take. Caveat - would have to do something to prevent counterfeiting maybe embed a chip.
