If you were to jump in the race, as Wade said, out of curiosity, in the chance you won could you file a shill bidding complaint with ebay and not pay with reputation intact?

I normally like to give ebay sellers the benefit of the doubt, but when an uncertified coin like this reaches this kind of money, I can't help but wonder. That is some _serious_ money for a Canadian coin - I cannot imagine buying a raw one off ebay.

Scrolling down to the detailed info part there is a PCGS #32069, would that be for this coin and the pic was taken prior to the slabbing, if indeed it is slabbed?

That is the number that PCGS uses to identify this coin type.

Is it just me or is this the obverse h3 that wasn't used until 1881? Can someone confirm that, that's what I'm seeing is the larger space in the ribbon. I'm not aware of any other markers.

I'm no expert in the series but thought I should bring it up for study purposes

I looked over many of his auctions, they all seem to be going for far more than they should. IMO stay away.

@ Alan
it is OBV2
On OBV3 the bottom of the crown sticks out past the strand of hair and forehead, not so on any other obverse
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

As long as the coin is real, they should be punished just for putting a raw, relatively nice coin in a wire stand with loose ends sticking out.
I agree that this reeks of shill bidding.

Nice story about his Dad's collection.

Unfortunately his Dad was an old time collector who believed in cleaning all his coins.

Many coins display fairly strong hairlines indicating a good cleaning with some kind of abrasive wiping going on.

I'll just sit back on this guy's auction and watch everyone waste their money.

Also, what a fantastic idea to display a coin, by setting it on a wire stand.

One slip of the hand and the coin will have a very nice scratch, giving it a 'details' grade.

This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.

Something is not right - because no seller in their right mind would turn down those kind of offers!!

Is it possible ebay shut the listing down for shill bidding?
I've known them to do that before.

When ebay pulls a listing - you cannot see the auction page anymore.
