The six together might be worth 20 cents.

Other than in the BEST of condition, are steelies ever worth more than 20-25 cents?

BiggDaddE -- you're probably right.

Numismedia shows XF40 collector prices from 35 to 63 cents, depending upon the mint.

I find the prices on Numismedia to be a little high.

To me they are a piece of history worth much more than the coin itself.

Taphandle!
I also appreciate the history of the coins.
Nice examples of these can be found for well under a dollar.

Hey, did you buy any chance dump these into a Coinstar machine? I found some yesterday in which a few of them look strangely like your pictures,

Also be aware of "reprocessed" 1943 steel cents. They are not necessarily 'bad', but they should not be misrepresented as "uncirculated" or the like. See:

I have about 100 steel pennies ranging from Ugh to hmmm to NICE! LOL! and the first time I saw the reprocessed one, I thought it was a proof. But no proofs were made, so yeah, felt a bit stupid but we all learn as we go.

But it sure does look nice though.

I also have a reprocessed steely. My wife got it for me years ago and it's just been sitting in my "waiting to be put in a binder" box. I didn't know until this thread that it wasn't original. Thanks dd27!
