If your Morgan has already been polished I don't see dipping it would hurt anything.

Can you post us before and after pictures?

Normally the bottle says to dip the coin for 5-10 seconds and dip again if the coin needs it. Rinse underwater after removing it. I use a pair of old tweezers with plastic tape on it so the metal doesn't dig or scratch the coin.

I will only dip an uncirculated coin if it's dark and heavily toned at 2 second intervals if needed . When I'm happy with results it quickly gets a bath of fresh water , then quickly dried .

Should I dilute the dip? I don't really care if the dollar gets ruined. It has some glue on the back too. Will the dip take care of it? I'll try to get some pics.

Coin197; in my experience as a chemist I would have to say ALWAYS start with a dilute solution... That being said, if you dilute, use a scale to keep track of your EXACT ratios

Use Acetone to get rid of the glue residue. The tip won't remove it and it will prevent the dip from removing the toning beneath the glue. If it has been whizzed, the color will be too bright after dipping. Thats probably why they toned it up.

I already soaked in in acetone. Hot water worked better on glue. Thanks for your help everyone! I'll post after results.

Here are my results. The dip didn't work well. When I took a flash pic, now I see what the whizzing did to the reverse.

@coin197 - You picked the perfect coin to test, bullion value to start and bullion value to finish. Every incremental bit of experience is valuable.
