Glad you got your refund.

I would be reluctant to order them again, but then again, I am typically one who will give a second chance. Tough call here.

Thank you for posting, if I had known about postal inspectors, I think I would
have contacted them.

I think what made me angry, the post master would not intertain any idea
to what happen except that the box must have broken open and the contents
were separated from the box. He was saying ...he could somehow check to see
if there was some missing items in the system.

To me only possibilities
- The mint shipped a empty box
Or
- The shipping box was opened in the postal system and the two boxes
of quarter rolls removed. Then the shipping box was closed back up empty.

Who ever closed the shipping box up had to know it was empty. If that person did not have something to do with stealing the quarters, why not
report the situation.

For now I am thinking the problem was the type of box that was used.
I might add to a order, with hopes of getting a different box.

Postal inspectors are useless.

I had a package cut, contents removed and resealed with brown glue.

When I brought it to the postmaster of the local office, after a bit of a struggle I was given the form to send to the regional inspector.

About three weeks later I received the envelope back with the non-apology apology for the damage to my mail piece. Nothing about investigating the theft.

Happy day ....

The mint package came today.

How-Do-NCLT-ATB-Quarters-Get-Circulated

I was really worried, that there might be another problem.

But all three quarter roll box sets were there.

How-Do-NCLT-ATB-Quarters-Get-Circulated

With all nine rolls of quarters

How-Do-NCLT-ATB-Quarters-Get-Circulated

That adds 360 more quarters to my ATB roll boxes

Awesome GR58! Glad it had a happy ending.

What a lot of quarters you have.

My favorite coin dealer that I purchase most of my silver from had an experience just after Christmas. He ordered over 5K worth of silver bullion from one of the major silver dealers and he received his box cut and re taped.
It was missing over 2K worth of his silver order. He is still dealing with the problem. It has been a nightmare for him.

I have a new policy:

Whenever my mailman delivers packages (containing coins) that require a signature at delivery I make it a point for him to watch me open the package to verify the contents before he drives off. It takes less than 30 seconds and he is glad to do it. At least I have a witness in case something isn't right. Whether his witness statement would help on a claim with ebay, PayPal or USPS I don't know. At least I have something a little bit better than a "he said, she said" in case I have to make a claim.

I've had the same thing happen to me but it was a while back with the State Quarters. I would have them delivered p&d bags of each state when issued. I got a box one day and took it out the mail box and it felt empty. The box was in tack but empty. Took it immediately to the post office. Talked to the postmaster and filled out a complaint. I can't say for sure if I ever got the quarters (I think I did) but it was so long ago. I will say one thing I have never had a problem again when the mint sends me something.

I thought that you were maybe organizing pdsss sets since you have the pds rolls its a pretty creative idea putting them into mint display cases anyway.

With all kidding aside

I would also call my credit card and file a claim-thats horrible good luck and keep us posted...

+1
This is why I pay with a credit card. If the mint refused to refund, then I would simply make a claim including all the details with my credit card company that the box arrived empty. I've had to do this a few times in my life (for other reasons) and have never once had a claim denied. The good thing about filing a dispute with your credit card company is that it's up to them, not the seller, if your money is refunded. You're their customer, so they have an incentive to make you happy.

This is also why they should never be allowed to leave boxes that dont fit in a mailbox without a sig or a customer release ahead of time its ridiculous. Ive had boxes stolen right off my porch before luckily not coins tho...yet!

I was out of town last week and my wife forgot to check the mail for a few days. She pulled out of the driveway and noticed a box on the ground next to the mailbox. Turns out that the mailbox was full, so the mailman just dropped the box on the ground next to the mailbox.
