This just isn't cool I think the only way I'm gonna get a WAM is either buy one, which takes away from the sport of hunting for them, or move to the east coast.

Hi, I am only going by the picture, but after a die clash, the portion where the bust effected the reverse die during the clash is polished and it sometimes opens up a gap between the A and the M. I've seen it where just the bottom right of the A is effected, some where the M is effected and some where both letters are effecting creating that opening. On the Wide AM pieces, the designer's initials FG is closer to the Memorial building than they are on the normal coins so that might help as a double check. See if the FG is the same on the 1998 as it is on the 2000. Again, I am going by a pretty dark picture so I am not sure on the 1998. Thanks, Bill

I took a few minutes to fiddle with the picture. Both the 1998 and the 2000 are definitely Wide AM coins! Nice:-) Bill

coffeegod,
I also live in WA and I haven't found a single one since I moved from PA almost three years ago.
If anything like it exists on the Denver Mint stuff, maybe we can find the first ones with D mintmarks :-)
Thanks, Bill

So...... all of these WAMs are being found on the east coast! Besides the ones being bought into the west coast...... then what is the deal with all of the WAM's, or I should say most major mints coins being let out from mid U.S. to East and not to the West. Are the biased? That was a joke. I'm sure I'll here as much as I can about non-West coast distribution. Along with this, are all of the "S" mints though let out on the west coast related to the mint site. My perception was that, after minted, the coins head to the Fed.Res. and are distributed upon request/buy-out/etc from all banks throughout the U.S. RPM's are great & all......just about all I'm finding here in WA besides the occasional DD. Thanks, Eric

coffee god said, " I guess I could glue a 1999 to a Wide AM cent & pretend.." or just file away the foot of the A, hold it in the semi-hot ashes of a campfire for about three to five seconds...rub the ashes in while still warm...rubbit realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll goodly like...then rub it clean.
