I would be looking for circulated as well as proofs. I just want to make the complete collection. I forgot that I need another date for my collection which is year 1988 of all coins except for the penny.

Most decent coin shops will have mint sets (sealed uncirculated coins). You can break them out of the wrappers and put them into a holder like the Capital holders or leave them sealed in the set. If you are doing circulated coins from change and/or rolls, most of those dates are fairly easy to find. The 1967 maybe a little harder and the 1958 not easy because most of the silver coins are already pulled from circulation.

I agree the 1958 is going to be a Hard One to Find in Circulation.

Go to the bank and buy 50 bucks in cents you'll more than likely find your 1958. They are incredibly common. If you search through each denomination like that I'd bet that you will find all of the years. It will also be for face so way less then you will pay buying them.

I pulled two 1958 D cents from my last box. Mint marks will open up a whole new can of worms. And you've found no pennies because those are British. I do believe you've found cents though.

I echo the sentiment that 1958 from circulation will be difficult. I'd guess $10,000+ in halves before you find a Franklin, and it might not even be the right year.

I have five rolls of silver Roosevelts that are probably headed for the oven.
I just opened one of them and found this 1958 Roosevelt.
I'll look at the other four rolls tomorrow for something in better shape.
Is this the quality that your looking for?

I am in agreement that the best way to get coins for those years would be
to buy proof sets.

I went through my 300 silver Roosevelts that were collected from bank rolls between 1962 and about 1965 and only found the seven 1958's shown here.

Pocketchange2, WOW I can't believe you actually found that many of them when they are so hard to find!

Well...To sum it up, it was easy to find silver coins back in 1962-1965. That's where these came from. They are the surplus from the holes I was filling back then.

I did something similar--I bought an BU Lincoln for the birth years of each of the five members of my immediate family--1927, 1929, 1954, 1959, and 1960. I arranged them inside a picture frame on some green felt. It went over very nicely at Christmas, and my dad still keeps it displayed on the table in the front room of his home.

Anyway, doing it this way made the cost quite minimal. I was easily able to find the BU pennies online.
