Hi all:

What model would you recommend? Does anyone use or think the measurement software is needed or provides any value added.

Oh, the compnay now has a table top stand with two addiotnal side LED lights. I have not seen it on the web site yet, but got the word from their sales department.

I'd wait and see what the table looks like (if you like it).

gewoodfo,
I have model# AM411T
- 1.3M/Resolution 1280x1024
- USB 2.0 Output
- 20-230x Continuous
- Digital "zoom in" VGA up to 330x
- Micro touch (trigger button)
- 8 LEDs on/off controlled by software
I love my Dino-Lite. I cant ever see myself using the measurement feature or even wanting to. I think the AM413FVT/FVT2 has a much larger price tag also. When I purchased the scope I also got the #MS22B stand, It does not have the extra LEDs. I currently do not use the stand. I made my own stand out of old Indicator base parts and also put together a photo box that works GREAT !

JP324, . I like to"roll my own", and like to get ideas from them that do likewise. Not pictures of the coins. I want to see the hardware!

Anyone have a web site for that DINO? I would like to check it out. I have scope(s), and cameras, including a scope camera that fits into the eye-piece well on my QSZ scope, but NONE give me the FULL-FACE of a dollar, or a cent. I want to be able to do some MACRA shots as well. Any ideas,? Anyone? Thanks,
dick

Livingdinasaur and all: The Correct address is:
http://www.bigc.com

JP324: I would not mind seeing pictures of your setup as well.
Also, how to you use it? Do use this as a tool for coin inspection or geting high quality photos of the coins or other.

Thanks,

Hi Goodsagold, (g'day mate) I brought one of the cheaper versions of the Dino from Hong Kong and it doesn't cut the mustard at all. Maybe it is me but it is too strong and the end result is a foggy mess.

Roger,
If you are using the software packaged with it, try another software. The
original allowed blooming and other problems. The scope itself is probably not
the problem as much as the software.

Wish I could help you Roger. Maybe problem with software like desertgem suggests. Come to think of it; now and then is 'pop-up' informing of software upgrade - click to install. And after last upgrade things went a bit 'wonky' on me; so did a quick System Restore and everything now okay! Which reminded me of various upgrades for my Video Capture Program that took me to hell and back before finally retreating to where things actually worked normal.

Another thing worth a try is; un-install software completely in Control Panel 'Add and remove'. Then re-install software and see how she goes. Good luck.

Thank's acidic1, and yes it does make a lot of difference to have a very rigid set up when using a scope of this type.

Dino-Lite AM411T USB Digital Microscope Camera

I paid $350 for the Microscope camera and mini tripod.

First impressions, WOW this critter is amazing for VERY close up work. But if you want to photograph the whole coin you better be ready to experiment.

The Controls, plenty of adjustments, more than most people will ever need.

Here are some photos of a 2007 Lincoln Cent. The only thing that is changed throughout the photos is the type of lighting. No Photoshop edditing was done other than cropping the image.

LED Light Emitting Diode (the unit has them built in, you can turn them on and off) I do not like the type of light they produce.

Incadescent Lights. I do not like them for this camera

Halogen Lights. I do not like them for this camera

Florescent Lights. Seem to work best for this camera

Florescent & LED. Great detail but you loose true color
