Could be both - a cleaned woodie - not sure if area by right wheat on reverse indicates cleaning that would impact grading...

Maybe the grain is fooling my eyes, but it looks like the initials (VDB) on the reverse are off-center from where they should be. Anybody else see this?

You're probably not going to donate this one to Slamnbass for his woodie collection...

The toning looks good to me, but its a details piece anyways.

There's a scratch on the reverse under the right wheat ear, plus the nasty obverse scratch through the date. Not to mention the nasty rim bumbs.

Too many problems to get a non details grade imo.

to the CCF!

Very nice find!!

There is a spot above the head where it looks like the light part is kind of raised. Just above head in between God and We. Is it just my eyes playing tricks on me? Or could this be a small lamination error?

Agree that scratch through the date just kills this coin, even if you like the wood grain look, which not everybody does.

New hire question, a "woodie"? A coin that was/has been encased in a tree or some such?

A woodie simply looks like its wood grained. the toned colors of the coin create a pattern. Good question!

So the design on the coin only looks like wood grain but has nothing to do with wood. Ok, thanks Mayflower2020
