Beach Hunting - What You Find ?

Michael , It really depends on where your beach is located . If it's at a heavily populated area with many bathers than you can find Jewelry ,and modern coins . If it's a private beach then don't waist your time . To answer your question about '' can I find old coins '' Forget the beach and hit old house's, schools, ball parks, any area that's at least 100 years old . But know the rules and regulations . There are many places that prohibit metal detecting .

I metal detected on an island that was, historically, over 400 years old. I literally had no signals. Not even a nail or iron signal. So, it really depends where you are in the world and where you are on the beach.

Im typically not a beach hunter, but my finds include a flying eagle and IH cent stuck back to back. I've also found a silver toe ring and 1912 Barber dime within minutes of each other. Christmas Eve on the beach in lower Michigan. Jet skiers on the lake.

Great , go there on extreme low tides and search from waters edge out about 15, 20 feet away close, to dry sand .

Would that work for the beaches, as well as in any local parks in the area as well?
It says it has a "waterproof housing to 10 feet", so figure that may be helpful if I drop it in the surf or get rained on when hunting on the beach.

And seems to be a good "all around detector" for using in local parks as well.

This unit work well for a good "novice" detector that will work for beaches and parks and be able to "learn and grow with it" over time?

You should know the history of any place you are detecting. If it is modern you are just looking for modern coins and jewelry. If it has history the possibilities are endless. I have found old coins, jewelry, pull tabs, batteries, modern clad, toys, phones, all kinds. What you will mostly find is trash. The more research you do, the better your finds to trash ratio will be.

I'm an AT Pro beach hunter. I gave up a long time ago trying to use it in the water. salt water mineralization= literally impossible to use. on the other hand, good depth in dry sand allows for very rapid coin recovery. also gold is rare. I have picked up 530 euros in coins for a single gold ring.
