Even PCGS graded MS69 modern proofs tend to go for under $5 for many issues.

I did a knee jerk reaction to something I know little about.

Everybody, thank you for calling me out on it. I suppose I could offer some sort of an explanation but it would be lame.

Next time I will just sit back and learn from the pros while I snack on the foot I firmly planted in my mouth.

Oldephriam- kudos to you for that reply. Too many people get mad at people who correct them. It is refreshing to see this kind of behavior, on the internet no less.
In fact I am more impressed by your second post than I would have have been put off by your first one.
So I take this opportunity to compliment this wonderful site and its wonderful members for all the good they do, all the knowledge they share, and all the friendship they promote.
With that I conclude ny 1000th post!!

Believe me Oldephriam, you are NOT the first person coming here asking this question. It mystifies most new collectors.

That is true. It is a phenomenon I had to understand myself way back when.

I wonder if it is worth trying to sell these at shows. Probably no one will pay more than $5 for these modern coins anyway.

He didn't express an opinion, he called something a scam that wasn't trashing a seller when he self admittedly had never looked at the listing. Someone should never be thanked for that reckless behavior.

I wonder how many people saw that post before it was corrected and now think that seller is a scammer for no reason

At coins shows, I see dealers with the equivalent of junk bins filled with modern slabs. I just wish they had more Ikes.

You mean the people who read one statement on the internet and assume it is true without checking sources or looking for corroborating opinions? You know, the ones who read the misleading headline and propagate mythunderstandings.

We had a dealer at a show get a little annoyed with us because he brought a bunch of them to sell to kids, but we were across the aisle giving them away.
