A Franklin set is one of the easier set to complete - like always, try to find coins in the best shape for the price.

Here's what you're up against with this popular low-cost set: 1) Commonly available complete in VG-AU for under $300. You'll never beat this one coin at a time. 2) APMEX offers the entire set BU in album for $749. So consider carefully before going to a lot of trouble.  Edited by Coinfrog

I think a lot more than a "bit of luck". I would say that this is essentially impossible, and even if you spent thousands of hours over dozens of years to accomplish it, who would care? |

I'm saying that I'll buy some, perhaps most of the franklins but I will use the ones I get from roll hunting as well.

That's good idea AlmostUncirculated.(I will call you AU from now on  ) Get what you can from CRH. I think finding Franklin is not as easy as it used to be. I recently found one Franklin out of 73 rolls of halves. But who knows, you might get lucky. Then, you can fill in the rest from ebay and local shops. After all, it's the fun of filling in one or few holes at a time.  Edited by Coconutjoe

CRH - Coin roll hunting. This term, and most others, is listed in the glossary located near the top of the menu on the left of the page.

What grade? Anything. If I am putting a set together, I prefer all match the grade of the lowest mintage I can afford. Just me. But then again I am more of a type set collector. I want all coins to be in a certain grade. Eye appeal is better to my eyes that way. It drives me bonkers if I have a AG3 coin in a set with a MS65 coin.

Just circulated coins and maybe au coins but not unc. coins, although instead I may eventually move it to or just use a dansco album in the first place.

I pulled a 1949-S out of a roll about 5 years ago. It was all scratched up and a cull but they are still out there!
