Wow. They all appear to be plated, or at least highly polished. Some sort of deceptive monkey-business.
How did you come by it?

These did belong to grandpa... he passed recently, and so I'm sorting through what I could find of his collection.
Alas, I haven't bought a good scale yet... tried looking locally this morning... but all I could find were digital food scales for cooking that went up to 11 lbs... but didn't have the accuracy of less than 1 gram... so I'll need to cruise the Bay and find something appropriate for weighing coins... it is on my to do list.
So far, I've just been sorting... not searching...

Although cleaned, they look like a nice keepsake from your grandfather. The V nickel looks harshly cleaned but the buffalos still look to have some eye appeal! Since you have a wide variety of years, maybe you could buy a folder or album and start a set  |

They are all detail coins because of their cleaned polished appearance . No real value in any of them . Maybe hole fillers .  Sorry about Grandpa . |

They all look like Details grade, and not at all valuable. Give them out to Trick or Treaters on Halloween...perhaps you can promote coin collecting to some kids.

For now they just get filed away with the rest of the nickels I'm sorting... ;-) will figure out what to do with them later.

No need. Google 'head shops near me'. You should find gas stations that sell narcotic paraphernalia. That's where I bought mine.  Apparently the only folks buying gram scales these days are drug dealers.  |

Good call on the smoke shop having digital gram scales! ;-)
They had about 20 to choose from... the gal behind the counter picked out the 'most popular' one for me... $14.99. Will get back to the weight of certain coins when I get home...

No problem. Who would of thunk it, right? I was in your boat about 8 months ago. Out of frustration I asked a degenerate at Walmart where I could buy a gram scale. Without hesitation he pointed me in the right direction. |

The standard nickels I have that I'm sorting currently weigh in around 4.87 to 5.06... These Buffalo nickels are weighing in around 4.86 to 5.06... The V nickels are coming in at 4.7 to 4.99. That's after wigjing roughly 10 of each... sooo... what do we know now that we didn't know then? ;-) |

We know they aren't plated.  The 1934D Buffalo nickel has something weird going on with the Mint Mark. They might not have much value except as keepsakes for future generations. Nothing wrong with that. |
