Can you kind of explain a bit what that means? What's a type 1?

Type 1, is the exposed right breast(left when facing). The public outcry over a naked breast caused the mint to scramble to create an alternative design. The mint then created the type 2 with a garment over the breast.
Maybe my vision is going bad(just turned 40)but I can't make out whether or not that booby is exposed.

Ooohhh I see. I will look better myself when I get home. The quarter itself isn't in the best shape and I had taken a quick photo. I'll take better ones when I get home. Thank you so much, this is all so interesting

Benja is correct. It is not a type 1 SLQ so, therefore, that rules out a 1916. I can tell based on the position of the leaves from the olive branch in her right hand.

Quote: The public outcry over a naked breast caused the mint to scramble to create an alternative design Myth, there was no public outcry. At least I've never seen any contemporary documentation of any. And the redesign was underway before the coins were even released. Quote: The mint then created the type 2 with a garment over the breast. The Mint sought modifications from the original designer and the covering of the breast was never mentioned as a requested design change. In fact the mint specified what changes they wanted and specifically stated there should be no other changes. McNeil's addition of the chain mail was NOT done at the request of the mint. So it was not the result of a "public outcry". It was just a common sense change. The design is symbolic of America's preparation for the coming conflict in Europe and if you are preparing for possibly going to war you go in properly dressed for it (Chain mail), note nude.

Nice find. Not much value but it's silver at least.

Definitely not a pretty coin, I couldn't tell you what kind of variety it is, but at bear minimum it's 90% silver and worth a few bucks.
P.S: tell us if you find any more coins! Do you happpen to have a metal detector? (This property is evidently old, and may turn up some other treasures.)

Yup, as I've said, it's not of good quality. I'm not looking for monetary value (unless it would've been thousands then heeey now lol). I love, love old stuff. We bought this house about four years ago and it is an oldster. It has a story, which is what we wanted, and now we are adding a bit of our own. We've found some pretty cool things like a calender that was ripped off up to June (the pages) and it was from 1982, the year that I was born. Nothing special, but I just thought it was the coolest thing lol. We've done our two living rooms and now gutting a bedroom to turn it into a half bath/laundry room then headed upstairs to more changes, so hopefully we'll find more fun stuff Maybe I'll rent a metal detector lol! We have an attic nobody will go in because it's tiny and we're chicken.. probably just a few bodies in there anyhow

Years ago we bought a beach house in Maine that was built in 1920. It was a major renovation and I was expecting to find some really old coins...nope... nothing.

A nice find. And Conder saved me from having to link the last time he shared that information.
