There's a lot of noise in the fields and that hit near the eye is tough, MS63 maybe.

MS62 tops. The reverse appears PL and the obverse just shy. Very nice example for '79-O although it is a typical sharp strike for the date.

Very hard to grade accurately from those pics but I'd say 62 rev PL

It is MS 60 CAM PL. ANACS says it is no more than a 60.

Actually, I wouldn't argue with that.

that is a fair assessment and yes it is well struck for the O mint. 62 for me.

I cleaned up the photos a bit as far as colors go, to see if this helps OP :) You can see some light golden brown toning up at the top of the obverse, at least, that's how it appears. I agree with ANACS's grade as assigned. Note that there is no sign of circulation on the cheek or high points, but as is typical for this date and mintmark, there are tons of planchet marks, bag marks, nicks, dings, and minor hits. This is a tough date in any Unc grade, and gets much tougher above 63. In Prooflike, MS61PL to MS62PL is about as "common" as it gets for this coin, with DMPL being scarcer yet. In MS63PL/DMPL and above the premium ranges from substantial to "OMG."

Quote: Anyway, I am taking this back to ANACS for a possible regrade. @coin197: With a 60 grade on that I'd be thinking regrade too. MS60 is a grade seldom seen and when it is you expect the coin to be ugly and/or beat up badly. That coin is neither of those.

Thank you for cleaning up the photo! Yes, that is almost how it looks like in hand. I am almost sure I will be crossing it over to PCGS at the World's fair of Money. What photo editor do you use to fix photos?

Photoshop CS2. It's old, but I can't really afford to buy a new version, and I have lots of experience with it at any rate.

I am in the 62 group but could see this in a 63 holder.
