Dorado..Make sure that you realize that the above 2 cents have been ruined by someone polishing them..
PC59-432..with the top of the "N" in CENT noticeably repunched..a late state and an early state for these 2..
Do you know who did the polishing on the above 2 last examples of yours..?

"Please don't do that to fine Vicky coins anymore"....all collectors here would make this same request.. Future collectors are missing out on very collectable coins for their collections.. Polishing like this ruins the coins collectability..

I agree, Devlec .... when I see photos like that, it sends chills up my spine and I wonder what would ever possess someone to do that to a coin.

This is one of the results of * my experiments with coins * This coin was * treated in 2006 the first time* I don't call this process *cleaning and polishing* I call it preserving the aspect of the coin ..especially when the coin was in bad shape. Now I am seeing the results of my work.

Collecting varieties was fun for a while , they seem to be rare for some of them ontil some hoards was bringing back on the markets making them as rare as a 2017 coin. it make me wonder if we are only a dozen of us who has interest in all of it and if we will get stuck with our worthless rarities .

Well, Rare, in the true sense and definition of the word, means that there are less than 10 known. To be really scarce, I consider the number to be 25 or less; scarce is less than 50, and kinda scarce is available but hard to find and less than 100 or so. Be careful when you read ebay offerings .. anything that you can or couldn't find in pocket change is considered rare or scarce in their words. Since I've been around a long while and collected and/or written about (mostly) Vicky large cents, I know or am acquainted with most of the active variety collectors. For Vicky LC's, I'd put the heavy or very active into at about 20, and those into it but not in earnest at 30-40. Those with any interest at all at about 100-120. When money or financial gain pops into the equation, then the number bumps up to 200 or a tad more. I think the same can be said for modern small cents as well. The collecting or "errors" I have no real handle on. The Canadian collecting market is really very very small ... probably 1000-fold less than the US and at least 50-100 fold less than most European countries. We are an extremely young country at 150 years .. it takes centuries to build up a large collector base. In your above post, I really don't know what you are talking about concerning "large hoards back on the market". I collect for 'history", "information" and nothing else.

So just a question for the Vicky LC collectors. Since we published the variety section in the 65th edition, has anyone managed to collect the complete variety section? Even if you haven't how far along are you?

Long time, no hear, Dan. To answer your question, I have (or have had) all but the 15 stem 1858 from the 65th edition. Nice to finally hear from another of we co-authors.

If we go to the Haxby news page we see "one-of" newer finds making it quite impossible to get them all anymore at least on the Hazby site....
..but some here (not me) have almost all of them and that's quite amazing indeed..
I'm sure that the back of the 2011 Charlton has been completed by some here..but I'm missing 1 58 and 3 59's..

Dan, the 1859 N9's and the 1881's are mainly the ones I collect. I'm missing one each of those from the 2011 Charlton.
If you look at the whole list from 2011, I'm missing 20 of the 81 listed. (If I counted correctly)
My main goal is to find all of the Haxby die pairs. I know I'll probably never get them all, but it hasn't stopped me from trying. I'm having a lot of fun pursuing them!

I would personally like to thank the co-authors in writing about the varieties. It gives me great pleasure in finding as many variations of varieties. I'm only about quarter of the way there and am starting to think it may be possible that I will never get them all but it sure is fun trying.

I'm missing only 9 of them. With 7 of them being in the 1859 and 2 in the 58. Hi Dan been awhile since we have heard from you.
