Not an expert on authenticity ... looks good from here ... and offering my sincere congrats should it prove to be so. Not often that we are able today to hold such a historic example of USA coinage in our hands .... hence the collecting pursuit.

That's a fine flip, TypeCoin .... Good "bang for the buck" so to speak!

Enjoy!
I, too, like holding a bit of history. I appreciate the beautiful barely circulated old coins, but there's something about being able to hold an old coin that's special.

Its a decent AG-03/G-4 at an AG-03 price. I agree its a B-14, the dotted date. Nice pickup.

No reason to be ashamed, classic Fr2/PO1 but enough detail left to be positive on the ID (lots of otherwise PO1s fail because you can't PROVE the date).

Thanks all! I saw this in the dealer's case, and I thought I misread the price of $375, thinking it was possibly $875. I pulled out my coin to trade, and the dealer instantly accepted it, saying the dollar had been in his case for quite a while.

Deadstock so long that it still had the 1995 price....
I passed up a raw 1800 in G for $900 a couple months ago. Bust dollars are expensive.

Here's a 1799 that I bought at the FUN Show in 2016 for $450. I've not as yet been able to attribute the counterstamp, F. DYER, whom I suspect was an early toolmaker. I don't know the variety. I grade it "G-4 details" and, like the 1800, thought it to be a good value at that price; this, despite the damage.

Quote: What was the coin you traded? 1867 Nickel with rays, PCGS MS-62. It had a crappy strike, so I valued it at around $300-350.
