Wow, I can't express how much better I felt about life when I started driving. The only piece of advice I can give is: Never trust other drivers!Keep a keen eye on others who are on the road with you. So, do you or will you have a vehicle all to yourself? If you're up to it, learn stick-shift early. After that, everything else is a piece of cake. I regret not ever learning it (no one offered to teach me, though). I can drive a manual but, it has to be a motorcycle.

Happy Birthday. I have well over a couple million miles driving experience ... Cars, Tractor Trailer and School Bus. I think some of the most important things I have learned are keep far behind other vehicles. It takes a fraction of a second to get to the point where you would be if you were tailgating. Don't worry about the guy behind you unless he is on your bumper. If he is, pull over and let him go by. You will find there are no shortage of idiots on the road. Don't look at them, don't make gestures, don't get emotionally involved because when you've avoided a confrontation with that one, another idiot will soon take his place. And as stated before, don't even use the cell phone while driving, let alone texting. If you must, pull off the road in a safe place and take care of that. Driving is serious business, take my word for it rather than learn how serious it is the hard way. Be safe and thank you for reading.

Happy birthday and congrats on the license. As a dad who's gotten two sons through the learning permit process in Ohio, I will say take your time and get as many hours as you can behind the wheel with a CALM experienced driver in the seat next to you (mom couldn't take it ). You need to build up some experience and time in the driver's seat.

Happy birthday Dustin. As stated by others, be careful out on the road. There's plenty of careless drivers out there. Learn to be on the lookout for them.
