Yes, that's the coin you had, the 1976 14K gold coin was the only $100 gold coin ever to be issued in a cardboard sleeve.

Thank-you so much. Now I have to search for a replacement. The sentimental value is gone but if my parents ever ask to see it again I would be devasted to tell them that I lost it.

in the link I provided you'll see one for auction..that is your best bet at not overpaying if you buy online. good luck! and hopefully the original one turns up sooner or later!...i bet it could as I doubt you'd have accidentally thrown it out or something.

Thanks! I will keep my eye on the auctions. Yes, I am really hoping it turns up one day. Not a high $$ value but high sentimental value.

I think that the 22k only came in the square black velvet box set of 7 coins.

I had that 22k gold coin in that exact box..

.. but I stated 7 coins is the black velvet as I mixed up the 76 olympics with the 67 7 coin set..I had both,..but both are now gone..

Would $400.00 CDN be considered fair value for the 14k in the cardboard sleeve?

Mintage for the 14K version was 650,000 so you should be able to pick it up for spot or just above.

Packaging is a little tired on this example but I'm sure the coin is fine...and the price is right at this moment..

Good luck on whichever replacement you do get..

Update..........I was able to purchase a really nice coin. The packaging has no folds and it looks great. I paid $415.00 CDN. It is in the safety deposit box. I hope one day the original turns up somewhere.

Thank-you to everybody that helped me out.
