Found this in a nickel roll the other day - haven't looked it up yet but it isn't magnetic.

I've heard horror stories of people putting stacks of pennies together in a clamp and grinding them down to fit in dime rolls

That's a whole lot of work to make a dollar - And if caught then have the FBI pay you a visit! They don't take defrauding a bank too lightly.

The "pennies in a dime roll" stories usually come from fast food restaurants and convenience shops, where customers are anonymous and it usually isn't worth police involvement over $4.50. Nasty stuff nonetheless.

I recall someone found such a "shorted" roll that was stuffed with 3 cent nickels! Can't find the thread now though...

Many years ago when I was in high school I was working at a store and cracked open a penny roll to find that the only pennies were the two on the ends. The rest were dimes. Why anyone would do that I have no idea but they did...

Had a business customer bring back a partially open roll of quarters to complain there was a nickel inside. So I swapped out for a different roll and sent her on her way. Opened up the rest of the original roll and there's a silver Washington (can't remember the year...51 or 52 maybe?) looking at me. Score!

I think I would have chuckled for second before getting annoyed at the thief! It takes some work to get cents into dime rolls.

I bought $100.00 of CWR dimes at the bank. Went to my car and noticed the ends of the rolls were at an angle.
Opened some up, they were all full of pennies stuffed in dime wrappers. Went back inside the bank and they gave me my money back. The bank was scammed, they come in the bank with many rolls of coins when the bank is very busy and have no time to check the rolls. I heard from another teller that this scam has happen before.

@Mark1959

I'm sure you've looked it up by now, but just in case, it's a 2009 Ukraine 25 Kopiyok.

I haven't searched any rolls in a while. If I had an account with a bank here, maybe it would be easier to get rolls, or even boxes. I just really don't like banks.

I once found 6 dimes in a cent roll. $1.04 for 50 cents. Yeah, that was nice!

Banks, if they were smart, would install scales which can weigh rolls of coins to the nearest gram. A dime roll is typically going to weigh 113-114 grams. If it is full of pennies (or silver), it will weigh a lot more than that.

I have also found cent wrappers containing all dimes. My guess is that the person rolling them up ran out of dime wrappers?
