So buy old Albums, turn off AC, get more cigarettes, and post pictures in four years. Got it!

I have heard of people using those old 2x2 brown paper coin envelopes. I have heard of people just letting the coin sit on a dresser exposed. I have heard of people setting the coin near a window.
Actually I think Crazy had a pretty good suggestion with a side dish a humor injected in there.
The old albums seemed to tone coins with darkness toward the edges and some come out quite nice.
Natural toning takes time.
You know, I like eating with silver plated silverware. My wife scrubs my spoons all shiny once in awhile.
( Do not scrub coins ) In no time they turn a golden bluish tone. Like a couple months and they get darker.
I often wondered if my well water or water softener has something to do with this. We have sulphur in our wells, which is the same stuff in the folders and paper envelopes that turns silver coins black or they get colorfully toned.
I sometime wonder if I soaked a silver coin in my kitchen water if it would make it turn.
I also have a canister of smokeless powder and another of blackpowder for handloading here.
I also wondered if a coin in a jar of that might do something but I just don't think it's a real good idea to play with gunpowder.
So, I apologize for jumping in there with that remark, leaving out the cigarette smoke, a folder may do the same thing. I just suggested flipping them over so they would get done on the other side. ( It's true, folders sometimes only tone one side and mess up the other.)

I knew the process would take some serious time (done naturally), and the coins aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Will cruise ebay for older albums or maybe some packaging envelopes from the 50's.
Appreciate the advice and LOVE the humor..........

High suffer content is a key element in even toning.

Buy a cheap pulp magazine from the 1930-1950 period and you will have enough paper for hundreds of coins. PM me, as I could scare one up for $7 including postage.

Buy some dime Wayte Raymond pages on ebay and put them on a shelf. They will cost you maybe $10 a page. It will take 3-5 years. I did it and they came out great.

Just take a piece of wood, raw not coated with anything, and place on a kitchen window sill. Place coins on that. Pending on how much cooking is done, open window, etc., coins should tone rather fast.

I left a 1967 Canadian Commemorative Half Dollar in a cupboard for a couple months and I got some beautiful toning on it (it was one of my first posts).

I've seen numerous failures using old albums. The issue is the old albums have already outgassed most of the components that cause toning.
